Photographs have always spoken to me. I would stare for hours at a single photograph, often revisiting, and wondering what that day was like and how much I could learn from that person just from the image. I received my first camera as a Christmas gift when I was about 8 years old. My very own Barbie camera! As a teenager, with a much better camera, I would never go anywhere without it! So naturally when I got to college, it was definitely a first choice for an elective. Taking the course, opened my eyes to seeing photography more as an art instead of just entertainment. I quickly realized that my favorite pictures were portraits or candids of people… studying their expressions and body language was so beautiful. I then changed my major to Photography and took almost any course I could grab over the next 3 years. One of my favorite photographers, Robert Doisneau, did a series of pictures of lovers on the streets of Paris. And that’s when it clicked for me. I LOVE love! And capturing those emotions is what I was meant to do.
Fast forward to present day and I am ecstatic to call this my job! I feel blessed to be able to do what I love and witness beautiful love stories every day. I’m easily moved when witnessing happy memories and tend to get teary-eyed at every wedding.
If I could visit any place in the world, I would definitely visit New Zealand to see the beautiful landscape and all the hobbit holes. One day I will live in one! I love dinosaurs and horror movies, so naturally my favorite movie is Jurassic Park.
My favorite model would have to be my boyfriend, Jesse. You can often see him as my assistant during shoots. He carries my reflector, my lens bag, my camera bag, and sometimes my keys too. Good thing he’s strong! We work so well together and are very happy. I like to account it to the fact that we met while working at the happiest place on earth! He’s one of the most selfless people I know. He has a big heart, the best smile, and always sees the best in people. He doesn’t know it yet, but he will be living in hobbit holes with me!
